Well, I have recieved my grades for the past 2 weeks assignments and so far I am getting a 4 point. This first class is a requirement of every new student that attends Ashford University. It's basically helping us to learn how to return to school. Most people have either never been in college, have had some college (like myself), or are continuing their education after a long period away. I have learned SO much in the last 2 weeks it's unbelievable. They definitely have their act together. They even pay for us to have a writing mentor from a company called "Language On-line" for our first course to help us with the paper we have to write. It helps to ease us into writing again. For me it's been 11 years. I was scared to death to go back to school. I didn't think I could hack it. Once I finally got up the courage to sign up, I was extremely excited about my decision. Now, I thought this first class would be a complete blow off class. Not the case. We have weekly assignments, quizzes, and have to write a 5 page paper. Little did I know how much I would enjoy every second of it. I know the classes are just going to get harder and harder from here on out, but my DH (who has had plenty of experience in school) told me if I continue to put this much effort into all of my classes, I am not going to have any problems. That was really nice to hear coming from him. I think he has been surprised at how dedicated I have been to this and he is so happy for me. The fact that this is something I WANT to do, and I don't HAVE to do really makes it fun. I want to be a counselor, and this is the path I need to take to get there. We have discussed the possibility of me going for my doctorate, but, I told him I need to just focus on getting my Bachelor's for now. ;o)
Each class is 5 weeks long. We take 1 class at a time, which is perfect for me. We are now in our 3rd week. They run from Tuesday through Monday. My next class will start on March 20th. This is actually a Psychology class, so I am very excited about it. My next 2 classes are psych classes actually, and then there are a few pre-req classes that I have. One of the strategies for writing that I have learned in this first class is that keeping a journal is a great way to keep up your writing skills, so I will be using this blog for that purpose. I won't be talking about school all the time, don't worry, but I'm sure it will be the subject of many of my posts.
Well, I guess I have blabbed enough for one day.
I'll be back soon!!
